The Venice, Florida area is well known for its beaches and year-round outdoor activities. The main beaches in Venice are Venice Beach, Caspersen Beach, Nokomis Beach, and North Jetty Beach. Venice and Casperson Beaches are located south of the Venice Jetty while the Nokomis and North Jetty Beaches are located on the south end of Casey Key (north of the Venice Jetty).
Located at the water's edge of W Venice Avenue is Venice Public Beach. Also known as Venice Municipal Beach, the beach has received a "Blue Wave Certification" in recent years meaning that it has been recognized environmentally as being a clean, healthy and well-managed beach. The beach, famous for finding sharks' teeth, has also undergone a beach renourishment program which has added roughly 120 feet of additional sand to the shoreline providing beachgoers more space to relax in the sunshine. Venice Beach provides public beach parking, a food concession, picnic tables, restrooms and sand volleyball courts and life guards on duty year-round.
Located just south of Sharky's on the Pier is Caspersen Beach. Situated in a picturesque setting amid sand dunes and natural vegitation, Caspersen Beach is one of the top Venice beaches for shelling and is a great spot to locate some prehistoric sharks' teeth. Caspersen beach offers several nature trails which traverse through freshwater and saltwater marshes and mangrove areas making it a good area to view native wildbirds. The beach also provides public parking, a canoe/kayak launch, a picnic shelter and restrooms. Please note that lifeguards are not on duty at Caspersen Beach.
Located on the south end of Casey Key is Nokomis Beach. It is most easily accessed via Albee Road heading west from US 41 (at the intersection of Mathews Currie Ford). Nokomis Beach is Sarasota County's oldest beach and is a popular family destination for outdoor aventure including picnics, watersports such as kayakying and paddleboarding as well as fishing. The Nokomis Beach area provides picnic tables, a children's playground, restrooms and plenty of on-site parking. Please note that lifeguards are on duty year-round for your water safety.
Located just north of the Venice Jetty, on the south end of Casey Key, is North Jetty Beach. With its close proximity to the Jetty, this beach makes a great spot to watch boats while you relax in the sand. North Jetty Beach and Park also provides for beach parking, on-site concessions, a picnic shelter, shaded picnic tables, a children's playground and public restrooms.
