At the west end of Venice Avenue, Venice Public Beach is renowned for sharks' teeth burried in the sand. A fossilized reef a quarter mile off shore from the Venice Beach makes it a popular spot with divers. Another great beach to find sharks' teeth is Capsersen beach. This beach offers a tranquil experience, with preserved shoreline, fresh and saltwater marshes, mangrove areas and tidal flats. Nearby beaches, Brohard and Paw Park offer a separate dog beach where your four legged friend can enjoy the sun and surf too!
To the north of Venice beach is Nokomis Beach, which is Sarasota County's oldest public beach. Lined with seashells, this vacationer's paradise offers picnic shelters and lifequards. Family-centered, this beach is also popular for fishing, boating and parasailing. Since Nokomis Beach is located just a few hundred yards north of the Venice Jetty, beachgoers can spend the afternoon watching endless boat traffic on the Gulf as they come in and out of the Jetty.
